Voluntary National Review (VNR) - Bahamas 2018

Document types

*In July 2021, the Government of The Bahamas presented a report on the "Key Messages" of its 2021 Voluntary National Review. However, the complete VNR document has not been published. This page presents the previous VNR of 2018, waiting for the results of the latest review to be fully available*

In 2014, The Bahamas began the process of developing a 25-year National Development Plan: Vision 2040. Recognizing the synergies between the National Development Plan and the Sustainable Development Goals, the Government of The Bahamas ensured that the 2030 Agenda was localised into its national development planning process thereby providing a roadmap for the implementation of the SDGs.

Parts 5 and 6 of the report highlight the SDG implementation process in many sectors. The 17 SDGs are well-integrated into The Bahamas National Development Plan, as shown by the UNDP's Rapid Integrated Assessment (RIA) of 2017. For each Goal, the VNR highlights the Key Interventions for Implementation, as well as the Challenges Faced in Implementing Programmes aligned with each specific SDG.
