Voluntary National Review (VNR) - Suriname 2022

Document types

Suriname’s first Voluntary National Review (VNR) presents the country's efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It has been redacted through a concerted effort by the government of Suriname, the private sector, civil society organizations, and international stakeholders such as United Nations Agencies.

It focuses on four Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4 - Quality Education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
  • SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
  • SDG 13 - Climate Action: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
  • SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for Sustainable Development.

For each one of them, the VNR analyses the status of their targets, the policy context and its progress, the challenges and emerging opportunities to achieve each SDG, and a statistical overview and analysis by selected indicators.
