Sistema de planificación urbano de Jamaica
La planificación territorial en Jamaica se realiza en diferentes niveles. A nivel nacional, este proceso es determinado por diversas políticas y planes de desarrollo, como la Visión 2030 de Jamaica y el Plan
Nacional de Desarrollo y la Política Nacional de Tierras, que representa el primer documento de este tipo en Jamaica y destaca la necesidad de participar en la planificación urbana y territorial, proponiendo un marco a largo y medio plazo para abordar el desarrollo urbano sostenible. A nivel local, las Órdenes de
Desarrollo, los documentos legales elaborados en virtud de la Ley de Ordenación del Territorio y la Ciudad, se utilizan para orientar el desarrollo por parte de las autoridades de planificación. El Ministerio de Gobierno Local y Desarrollo Comunitario es la principal agencia responsable de supervisar y orientar los avances en el ámbito de las estrategias de desarrollo local.
