Public-Private partnerships
In Trinidad and Tobago there is no legal framework for public and private partnerships (PPP) nevertheless it exists The National PPP Policy and the ppp unit within the Ministry of Finance and Economy which promotes these types of projects in the country.
In The National PPP Policy is clarified that “The Government agency may be a Ministry, a State Enterprise, a Statutory Body, or any other Government contracting authority”
The Tobago House of Assembly has been able to implement ppp projects due to the creation of the subnational unit operating in the local government. However in 2019 it was ruled that the THA needs the approval of the Ministry of Finance to reach such agreements.
