Transport amd Climate Change Week
On June 21, 2021, at 14.30 hrs (Chile) and 13.30 hrs (Mexico), the project Inclusive, Sustainable and Smart Cities in the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (CISI), will be addressed in the session "How urban mobility contributes to a sustainable recovery?" with a presentation on the concept of ECLAC's Great Impulse for Sustainability (GIS) and its opportunities to contribute to a transformative recovery through the promotion of sustainable mobility.
The fourth edition of the Transport and Climate Change Week (TCCW) is GIZ's annual flagship event on the transport decarbonization agenda, which will take place in virtual mode from June 21-25, 2021. The TCCW offers opportunities for decision-makers and experts from around the world to network, develop their technical capacities and increase their conviction to transform the transport sector towards zero emissions. In the framework of the activities organized by EUROCLIMA+ at TCCW, the June 21 session "How urban mobility contributes to a sustainable recovery" aims to present the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on transport in Latin America and discuss how this crisis can be turned into an opportunity and a path towards sustainable, low-carbon mobility. The session will include the participation of three experts in public transport policies.
- "Urban Mobility and COVID-19 in CDMX: Impact and Reactions" (Rodrigo Díaz, Secretaría de Movilidad CDMX).
- "Urban Mobility and Green Recovery in Latin America" (Julio Briones, Centro de Desarrollo Urbano Sustentable - CEDEUS)
- : Great Impulse for Sustainable Mobility" (Diego Aulestia, Sustainable Development and Human Settlements Division ECLAC, Cooperation Program ECLAC-BMZ/giz).
The session will be introduced by Pablo Juica Yantén, GIZ urban advisor, and will conclude with a discussion and interaction with the audience on how urban mobility contributes to green recovery, moderated by Juan Carlos Muñoz (CEDEUS).
