11. Sustainable cities and communities
Goal 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
More than half of the world's population lives in cities and it is expected that by 2050, more than two-thirds of the world's population will be urban dwellers. This rapid growth has increased slum dwellers, inadequate infrastructure and services, and increased air pollution.
Therefore, it is essential to have planned city models to achieve goals of poverty eradication, climate change reduction, equality, and inclusive economic growth models. SDG 11 sets the stage for achieving targets in many of the other SDG goals.
