The 3rd Regional Housing Forum 2024 in Mexico will feature ECLAC's participation

On July 25th, the 3rd Regional Housing Forum 2024 will take place. This event aims to address the challenges of the housing deficit in Latin America and the Caribbean and to foster meaningful discussions and innovative approaches to the issue. This year, the forum will focus on disruptive innovation in sustainable housing for vulnerable populations in the LAC region.

Building on the success of previous forums, including the IDB Housing Forum 2022 in Washington D.C. and the Regional Forum on Urban Financing and Housing 2023 in Ecuador, this year’s edition will be held in Mexico City. It is organized by the National Housing Fund for Workers Institute (INFONAVIT) and the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (SEDATU), in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Following the trace of previous events, this year’s forum edition will feature the participation of authorities and housing sector’s international professionals. Diego Aulestia, Human Settlements Unity Chief of the Economic Commission for Latina America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), will participate in the first panel of the event, addressing the importance and challenges of collecting housing data and information to address the housing deficit with sustainable and resilient solutions

Among the notable speakers are Carlos Martínez Velázquez, General Director of INFONAVIT in Mexico; Jennifer Molinsky, Director of the Housing an Aging Society Program at the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies; George McCarthy, President of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy; and Dr. Misun Park, Director of the Housing Policy, Housing Research, and Land Division at the Center for Korea Research Institute for Human Settlement (KRIHS).
