The Twelfth Session of the World Urban Forum is approaching
The World Urban Forum will return to the African continent after more than 20 years since it was held in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2002. This event is considered a high-level, open, and inclusive platform convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) to address the challenges of sustainable urbanization. This year, the Twelfth Session will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from November 4 to 9, 2024.
On this occasion, the main theme of the forum will revolve around the slogan “It All Starts at Home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities.” Therefore, the event will focus on localizing the Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to highlight the local actions and initiatives needed to address current global challenges affecting people's daily lives.
During each of the six days of the event, various dialogues will be held, providing a space for professionals, experts, and decision-makers to exchange ideas and solutions on topics of global importance while including the public in the discussion.
The dialogues will focus on:
- Dialogue 1: Housing for the Future.
- Dialogue 2: Cities and Climate Crises.
- Dialogue 3: Stronger Together (Strategies for Alliances to Connect Global Goals with Local Realities)
- Dialogue 4: Financing Localization and Localizing Financing.
- Dialogue 5: Putting People First in a Digital Age.
- Dialogue 6: The Loss of Home.
